The 2010 Mourvedre showcases the robust side of the grape, offering aromas of plum, fire seared rib-eye, cinnamon and dried rose-petal.  The big chewy palate is stuffed with cherry compote, dark cocoa, wild game and vanilla bean.  The chalky tannins and rich finish beg to be paired with a hearty autumn stew. Black cherries, cinnamon and beef blood dominate while subtle notes of forest floor, caramel and bay offer support. Flavors of Boysenberry, venison and mushroom initiate a mouth-feel that starts out rustic but finishes opulent. Aged 18 months in 54% once used, 33% new and 13% neutral French oak. Savage aromatics of raspberry, anise, leather and smoked paprika evolve into a palate filled with Nutella, dark cherry preserves and grilled Portobello mushroom. Crushed pepper and roasted meataromas intermix with bright red fruit aromas that burst from the glass on the nose of this wine.
