The ditch Digger

This oozes blackberries, plums and bergamot with underlying aromas of nori and fresh orchids.  Licorice, black cherries, 5-spice and a small hint of vanilla evolve into a silky smooth mouthfeel that picks up a hint of graininess on the finish as it drives deeper on your palate.  Fermented 70% whole cluster.  Aged for 18 months in 500L and 600L barrels, 15% new.

Do not be fooled by this wine’s blue collar namesake, as it is pure sophistication this year.  It has aromas of leather bound journals, blueberries and pipe smoke. It’s dense and rich, with a sappy, fruit filled mid-palate and a long silky finish. The Ditch Digger may have hard worn hands, but they roll up the sleeves of a fine suede jacket. 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 5% Cinsaut, 5% Counoise. Aged for 16 months. 50% in neutral oak puncheons, 40% in concrete tank and 10% in new French oak puncheons. 1544 Cases Produced. 

2013 - Ditch Digger Concrete
The nose is vibrant, offering up red cherry, high-toned mineral notes and fresh menthol. Sappy flavors of ripe raspberry, black pepper and smoked meats meld together flawlessly. The palate has a rich sweetness and incredibly long finish that hints at the longevity of this wine.  Fermented 55% whole cluster. Aged for 14 months in concrete tank.  94 cases produced.

Ever evolving in the glass, her very presence gives you mixed emotions of great times and painful heartbreak.  She walks into your life as elegant and gracefully as she walks right back out. Fermented 50% whole cluster. Aged for 18 months in 80% used 500L puncheons and 20% concrete. 1280 cases produced.

2012 - Ditch Digger Concrete
“Drink Me” and escape from the Kingdom of Oak. Down this rabbit hole there’s a magical and thrilling world filled with bramble, quince and wild strawberries. A sense of adventure will lead you to seared orange peels, sandstone and white roses – painted red of course.  As you explore this unpredictable wine you’ll soon realize that the only certainty is uncertainty itself.    Fermented 50% whole cluster. Aged for 18 months – 6 months in neutral oak and 12 months in concrete. 84 cases produced.


This elegant beauty engages you with raspberry, dried herbs, pepper and flowers.  It flows across your palate with sappy red fruits, lavender and rosemary.  It plays with you like a guilty pleasure, continuing to draw you back by hinting at something deeper, darker and more hedonistic.  Refusing to let you have it all at once, this wine will only get better with time. This Ditch Digger shows lively aromas of sappy red raspberry, lavender, blueberry, black pepper and fresh cut anise. The palate has an impressive depth to it that offers black cherry and a savory mix of sage, bay and cured meat. Black cherry, cocoa powder and roasted meats create an elegant and refined palate that showcases multiple layers of texture and a seamless, yet powerful finish. Exhibits a lavender, tarry, ripe black/ blue berry, mineral scented nose. On the palate these elements are echoed on the expansive, full mid-palate and long, spicy finish. (43% Grenache, 26% Syrah, 23% Mourvedre, 8% Counoise).


A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. It displays upfront aromas of raspberries, minerality, white pepper, dark chocolate, and spice. On the palate, the jammy fruit and pepper elements from the Grenache and Syrah are counter-balanced by the dark, meaty, brooding beast that is Mourvedre. The smooth tannins and balanced acidity slowly draw the curtain on the long, spicey finish.
