Zinfandel

2013

The damp soil beneath you feels cool on your knees as it presses into your jeans, but the August sun beads sweat above your collar. As you fill your pail, the thorns from the raspberry bush grab at your sleeves.  A breeze carries the scent of spicy briar, eucalyptus and a nearby citrus grove. You emerge from the thicket, scratched and filthy yet completely satisfied by the collection of seductive wild fruits you’ve rustled.  30% Whole Cluster.  Aged for 14 months in French and Hungarian 500 liter Puncheons, 30% new. 532 Cases Produced.

2012

Like a beautiful rose garden, this Zin seems harmless enough - flaunting an ethereal nose of potpourri, black raspberry, 5-spice and sweet bay. But soon it pricks your palate with black fruits, orange peel, underbrush and chocolate.  After making known its dangers it finishes with seductive tannins begging you to reach for it once again. [100% Zinfandel] Fermented 10% Whole Cluster. Aged for 10 months in once used 500L Puncheons: 70% French, 30% Hungarian. 480 Cases Produced. $60 Retail ($51 Comus Members).

2008

Seductive bright red fruits, anise and cinnamon open up this beastly Zin.  Sultry molten chocolate rasperry cake, saddle leather and sandal wood spice lead into a well endowed finish that begs for marinated ribs smoked on a wood fired spit. [86% Zinfandel, 7% Petit Verdot, 7% Syrah] 274 cases produced ($38.25 to Comus Members) Wine Club Only

2006

The nose bursts out with ripe, spicy boysenberry jam aromas. On the palate the intense, ripe berry characters are balanced with round, smooth tannins and bright acidity that draw out the long jammy finish. [86% Zinfandel, 7% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre].   Wine Club Only

2005

Our first Zinfandel release shouts out ripe raspberry and strawberry jam, sandalwood spice and toffee/cocoa powder aromas on the nose.  On the palate, these elements reappear and lend some finesse to this big, lush, ripe Zinfandel based blend.
